Wesson (4-9), playing without three regulars, didn’tscore a point from the 1:15 mark of the first quarter until 6:07 ofthe third quarter and trailed 42-9.

“We had some sickness and disciplinary action on oursquad,” said Cobra head coach Jimmie Nail. “That plus the fact thatNorth Pike played a tough game. It turned out bad for us allaround.”

Billy Miller was the only player for Wesson in doublefigures with 11 points.

“We looked sharp,” said North Pike head coach CasselsWilson. “It obviously wasn’t against their best but anytime we playhard and move quickly, I’ll take that.”

Wilson was proud of the fact that his Jags only turnedthe ball over seven times in the contest.

“We had 21 steals tonight,” said Wilson. “I’m muchhappier to see double figures in steals. Anytime we get in doublefigures in turnovers, we’re not doing a good job.”

Clay Shepherd and Jackie Robinson each hit two3-pointers for North Pike and Nic Wilson blocked fourshots.

The Lady Jaguars led 18-5 after the first quarter and33-11 at halftime as they improved to 15-3 overall. Wesson fell to4-9.

“There were just two factors tonight,” said North Pike coachJohn Stevens. “We were a little quicker than they (Wesson) were andhad a lot more depth. They weren’t able to go to the bench as oftenas we did.”

Sabrina Ard and Moneka Lewis led North Pike’s balanced attackwith 10 points each as 11 players scored for the Lady Jags.

“There’s not too much to say,” said Lady Cobra head coach LaneYoung. “We just had a bad night.”

Maggie Johnson led Wesson with eight points.

Both teams return to division action Tuesday night with Wessonhosting Richland and North Pike entertaining Amite County.
