A new 12-page booklet, an Internet web site and other effortsare the goals of a marketing campaign currently under way, Russsaid. The approximately $31,000 project is being funded through astate grant from the Mississippi Department of Economic andCommunity Development and from the Vision Partnership campaign.

“It’s going real well,” Russ said about progress.

Russ said he expects the booklet, or brochure, to be ready bythe end of August. He said it will highlight the community’shistory, school systems, recreational offerings, medical community, recreational and cultural offerings, location, residential andindustrial benefits.

A new and updated web site is targeted for completion by the endof September. It will have a completely new look and offer betterdata management and links to chamber members, Russ said.

In the marketing material, Brookhaven-Lincoln County will beincluded. However, printing and display techniques will allow”haven” to be highlighted as a “shopping haven,” “education haven,””recreation haven,” “industry haven” and other variations on thattheme.

Russ said haven has no bad connotations and there is nothingnegative about it from a regional standpoint. For those who likethe “great place to visit, better place to live” slogan, Russindicated it would be staying as well.

“Haven will be featured throughout our new marketing materials, but it will not replace any of our tag lines,” Russ said.
