Lincoln Co. rebounds, beats Pontotoc 7-4 in Dixie Majors tourney

COLUMBIA -State Bank/Lincoln County lost to Laurel 14-2 butrebounded to beat Pontotoc 7-4 Tuesday in the rain and remain alivein the Dixie Majors State Tournament. Lincoln County plays theloser of the Columbia-Laurel game today at 5:30.
Meridian plays the winner of the Laurel-Columbia game tonight at8 as the double-elimination tournament continues. Only four teamsare left.
Laurel 14, Lincoln Co. 2
Skyler White pitched the victory in the 5-inning game.He struck out 3 batters and walked 2.
Cass Brister was charged with the loss. Brister struckout 3 batters, walked 4 and allowed 8 hits. Jody Britt replacedBrister in the third inning.
Leading Lincoln County at the plate was Jody Britt whohit a 2-run homer in the third. Adam Speeg singled.
Laurel was led by John White and Alexander Warren whohit 2-run homers.
“We made too many errors,” said Lincoln County coachShane Stokes, recalling his team’s 5 miscues. “Laurel was too muchfor us.”
Lincoln Co. 7, Pontotoc 4
Seth Britt pitched Lincoln County’s win. He struck out 2batters, walked 1 and allowed 4 runs on 8.
The losing pitcher was Brett Holt. He fanned 10 batters,walked 3 and allowed 8 hits.
At the plate, Seth Britt led the victory with a5th-inning grand slam homer. It game Lincoln County a 7-4advantage.
Chase Coley doubled and singled for Lincoln County. JodyBritt and Blake Wall singled.

Pontotoc was led by Andy Wilbanks who hit 2homers.
