Franklin Co. reaches finals in AAA tourney

GLOSTER -Franklin County defeated host Pine Hills 11-5 Mondaynight in the Dixie Youth AAA South Subdistrict Six Tournament.

GLOSTER -Franklin County defeated host Pine Hills 11-5 Mondaynight in the Dixie Youth AAA South Subdistrict Six Tournament. RyanRatcliff was the winning pitcher, striking out 10 batters andwalking 5 as Pine Hills was eliminated from the double-eliminationtournament.

Franklin County meets undefeated Natchez tonight at 7 in thefinals. Franklin County must beat Natchez twice to win thesubdistrict title.

The losing pitcher was Trey Stillman. He struck out 2and walked 4.

At the plate, Franklin County collected 11 hits againstPine Hills, led by Cable McMinn who went for 3-for-3, including adouble. James Magee went 3-for-3 with 3 singles. Ratcliff singledtwice. Collecting a single were Barry Townsend, Jerry Holland andNagee Jones.

Pine Hills got singles from Lane McCarty, Mickey Hines,Chris Cullen and Nick Foreman.

In Saturday’s rain-delayed tournament opener, Pine Hillsbeat Franklin County as Kevin McCarty pitched the win.

McMinn was charged with the loss. He fanned 2 and walked6.

Franklin County was led in batting by McMinn who singledtwice. Ratcliff doubled.

Wes Wesbrook doubled for Pine Hills.

Franklin Co. 15, Claiborne 1

McMinn fanned 3 and walked 3 in pitching Franklin Countypast Claiborne County Saturday night. He held Claiborne hitless in3 innings.

Matthew Lofton replaced McMinn. He fanned 1 and walked 3as the no-hitter continued.

At the plate, Ratcliff and McMinn doubled and singled.Lofton and Percy Cameron doubled.

Darion Graves was the losing pitcher. He fanned 2 andwalked 2.
