Help askedin solvingrobbery

Authorities are asking the Bogue Chitto community forhelp in solving a recent robbery at a truck stop in which anundisclosed amount of money was taken.
At about midnight Monday, the Lincoln County Sheriff’sDepartment received a call from a clerk at the Bogue Chitto TruckStop stating a masked man had just stolen a money box.
“She said someone came in the store, went behind thecounter and took the money box,” said Lincoln County Sheriff LynnBoyte, adding that the clerk was away from the counter at thetime.
Three witnesses described the subject as being a blackmale who was six feet tall, weighed about 60 pounds, and waswearing blue shorts, a blue shirt and a cream or white ski mask,said Boyte.
The subject allegedly left the scene on a bicycle,possibly a 10-speed, going toward Highway 51 , addedBoyte.
Deputies arrived on the scene minutes after the call butwere unable to find the subject.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department requests thatanyone with information about this crime call Crime Stoppers at823-0150. Information called in to Crime Stoppers is completelyconfidential. The caller also remains anonymous.
Mailbox Vandalism
Authorities are also asking for help in the recent mailboxvandalism occurring on Jackson Liberty Drive from West Lincoln toZetus Road recently. Numerous mailboxes were smashed in thatarea.
Boyte added that destroying property of the United Statesgovernment is a federal offense and can be punishable with jailtime.
He also stated that mailbox vandalism has grown more common inpast years, especially around graduation, and the subjects areusually juveniles.
Two juveniles were caught allegedly vandalizing mailboxesTuesday. Deputies were able to find the subjects after receivingseveral phone calls concerning the vandalism.
“There was about 10 or 12 mailboxes in the Zetus Hilltop areavandalized,” said Boyte.
