Recently Jackson voters approved what was sold as a “1 percent” sales tax increase.

Don’t be misled. My figures indicate raising a sales tax from 7 to 8 percent is a 14.28 percent increase. Doesn’t sound like a penny any more, does it?

Already there is movement to repeat that in Brookhaven.

Government will always find a way to spend money. We need to stop the

increase before it becomes another permanent “temporary” tax.
