Ole Brook power Panthers finished third
The Brookhaven High Power-Panthers finished third in the Pearl invitational powerlifting meet. Pearl won the meet, with Brandon placing second. Eleven teams participated with more than100 lifters competing.
For Ole Brook, Anthony Wilson took first place in the 308 class. His total was 1430. He had the best bench press of 340 and second highest deadlift of 550 pounds.
Stephen Springfield won third place in the 242 weight division. He had a personal best deadlift of 450 pounds
Johnathan Smith won 3rd place in the 114 division with a total of 510.
Other totals were Darion Caston in the 132 class with 705 lbs., fifth place; Garrett Smith 148 class 680 lbs eighth place; Jon-Mark Mathis 165 class total of 835 for fifth place; Jay Trunner 198 class total of 1170; Leo Lewis 220 class total of 1145 for fourth place; Direyun McNair 220 class total of 915 10th place; Tristan Peavey 275 class total of 990 fourth place; Jared Dillon 275 class total 970 for fifth place; Marquez Gibson 308+ total of 965 for fifth place.
Caston had a personal best deadlift of 370, Trunner had a personal best deadlift of 525. Lewis had a personal best bench press of 275 and a deadlift of 465.
” Overall, I am very pleased with how the guys competed,” said Ole Brook powerlifting coach Russ Britt.
“We are night and day compared to where we were at this point last year. We had a great showing against some great powerlifting teams. We are looking forward to the Regional meet on Feb 14th at Ridgeland High.”
Ole Brook returns to action for a practice meet Thursday at Bogue Chitto at 4 p.m.
