DAILY LEADER / RACHEL EIDE / TRAIL WORK - Danny Smith of T&S Services of Brookhaven uses a bulldozer Monday to excavate soil for a new quarter-mile walking trail at Bicentennial Park. First, worker are removing six inches of dirt along the trail; then four inches of fill will be applied, followed by two inches of asphalt, said Terry Reid, director of the Brookhaven Recreation Department. After T&S finishes the dirt work, Dickerson & Bowen will do the paving, and work should be complete within a week, Reid said. The trail is being built with funds from a $25,000 Healthy Hometown Grant provided by the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation.
