Natchez restaurateurs looking at opening eatery in the city

The owners of Roux 61, a Natchez seafood and grill restaurant, intend to open a restaurant in Brookhaven and could set up shop in the city within a year.

Co-owners Brian and Jason Lees are hesitant to establish a firm date for the local restaurant’s opening though until further developments play out.

“In the event something happens between now and then, we’d rather keep a firm opening date undisclosed. It’s an area we are highly interested in, however,” Brian Lees said Friday.

Final confirmation wouldn’t come until the summer months, Lees said. He did confirm the location would be near Home Depot on Brookway Boulevard.

“We won’t make an official announcement until June or July. When we do, we intend on letting everyone know at that time. We don’t want to say too much right now.”

Lees said they’ve gotten many inquiries about the Brookhaven restaurant since rumors started circulating around town.

“We’ve gotten thousands of calls regarding this. That’s one of the reasons we want to wait to announce an official opening,” Lees said.

Specializing in seafood, Roux 61 also serves po-boys, burgers, sandwiches and steaks. Some Brookhaven residents are familiar with the restaurant and have made multiple trips to Natchez to eat there.

“We’ve gone there a couple times. It’s great to hear that they want to come here,” said Chancery Clerk Tillmon Bishop.
