Wolfpack places sixth in Meridian Tournament

MERIDIAN The Co-Lin Wolfpack finished the weather-shortened Meridian Invitational in sixth place. Tuesday’s final round was shortened to nine holes. Meridian, who began the day in second place, rallied to win the tournament with a 463, four strokes ahead of second place Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Wolfpack returns to action on March 31-April 1 in the Northwest MS Invitational that will be held at North Creek Golf Club in Southaven and Wedgeworth Golf Club in Olive Branch.

Finishing in a tie for third place were Northwest Mississippi and Jones County at 468 followed by East Mississippi at 482, Co-Lin at 485, East Central at 490, Northeast MS at 493, Hinds at 495 and Itawamba at 501.

Individually for the Wolfpack, freshman Ryan Desomeaux of Broussard, La., was the top finisher at 118 (T13), followed by Connor Barnes of Prentiss and Gregory Causey of Petal 122 (T26), Austin Schillaci of Elmwood, La., 125 (T41), Taylor Jelks of Hattiesburg and Will Lee of Brookhaven 132 (T53).

Hayes Carr of Northwest Mississippi took medalist honors at 110.
