Lady Cats roar past Salem

TYLERTOWN – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats were victorious in softball action Monday night as they defeated the Salem Lady Wildcats 9-4 in Game One in the second round of the Class 1A state playoffs.

“This was a big win,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “It is always important to take Game One on the road. The girls did a great job offensively and defensively.

The Lady Cats (22-6, 6-0) will be in action today as they prepare to host Salem for Game Two and Game Three, if needed. Starting at 5 p.m.

Bogue Chitto 9, Salem 4 

Bogue Chitto and Salem battled in a tough defensive battle in the first three innings of action as the Lady Cats of Lincoln County held a 3-1 lead.

BC exploded in the fourth inning with a nine run blast to extend their lead to 9-1.

Salem managed to score three runs in the six inning but failed to inch closer as Bogue Chitto held on to secure the victory.

Alana Nettles improves her record to 12-2 after collecting the win for BC with six strikeouts and four walks.

Darrien Dykes absorbed the loss for Salem with six strikeouts and no walks.

Terrah Nelson sparked the Lady Cats at the plate with a double and two singles. Mattie Avants fueled the flames with two doubles. Colby Kirkland and Daley Roberts contributed two singles each. Christian Black had a double. Hitting safely were Zariah Matthews and Nettles.

Rachel Bond was the top hitter for Salem with two singles. Dykes ripped a double. Reese Bailey, Brittney Bergeron, Vicky Callender and Courtney Brumfield hit safely.
