Bulldogs nip Choctaw Co.

BUDE – Bernard Selmon ripped two triples and the FC Bulldogs collected a 6-5 win over Choctaw County in Game One of the opening round of the Class 3A State Playoffs.

Both teams play Game Two tonight in Philadelphia at 6.

The Bulldogs (15-7) won the game on a walk-off walk of Graham Cowart, which plated Hoby Mullins.

Choctaw County, which led 3-1 through the first three innings of the game, never backed down from the Bulldogs.

FCHS tied the contest at 3-all in the third before taking a 5-3 lead in the sixth. Choctaw County tied the contest in the seventh at 5-all.

Three straight walks gave the Bulldogs an edge in the bottom half of the seventh, before Cowart worked the count allowing the Bulldogs the winning run.

Selmon, a junior outfielder for the Bulldogs, paced all batters with two RBI-Triples. Connor Quin added a RBI-Double.

Winning pitcher Derrick Brumfield helped his cause at the plate too with a double and a single.
