Lady Bears crush Franklin Co.

MEADVILLE – The West Lincoln Lady Bears crushed the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs 17-7 Monday night in slowpitch softball action.

The Lady Bears (9-0), coached by Andrew Redd, continue action today as they host the Richland Lady Rebels. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6:15.

West Lincoln 17, Franklin Co. 7 

The Lady Bears and the Lady Bulldogs battled in a back and forth contest in the first three innings of action with West Lincoln leading 4-3.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Lady Bears managed to turn up the heat on Franklin County as they plated five runs to secure a 9-4 lead.

Through the rest of the contest, West Lincoln outscored the Lady Bulldogs 8-3 to capture a 17-7 win.

Makennah Redd was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bears with two strikeouts and no walks.

Sydney Scott suffered the setback on the mound for Franklin County with one strikeout and one walk.

Alli Mullins powered West Lincoln’s offensive attack with a double and three singles. Hanna Moak and MaKennah Redd provided fuel to the flames with a double and two singles apiece. Layton Sills and Jana Case contributed three singles each. Anna Brooke Davis and Morgan Newman had a pair of singles. Millane Lewis ripped a double. Hitting safely were Megan Gerald and Sara Jane Doty.

Savannah Frith was the top hitter at the plate for the Lady Bulldogs with a double and a single. Sydney Scott contributed three singles. Shelly Case, Tabitha Thompson, Emilee Wallace and Brandi O’Neal provided two single apiece. Timara Mackey and Taylor Smith hit safely.

In junior varsity action,  Franklin County defeated West Lincoln 12-6.

Skylar Hall paced the Lady Bears’ offense with a triple. Hitting safely were Adi Paden, Morgan Newman, Maddox Redd, Bailey Wilson and Madison McNatt.
