Alcorn State seniors Scottie Peavey and Colton Laird helped the Braves collect a 7-2 win over Prairie View A&M in Houston Saturday afternoon.

Peavey, an Ole Brook product, hit a towering home run and two singles to lead Alcorn State offensively.

On the mound, Franklin County native Colton Laird went the distance to collect the win. Laird struck out four batters.

The Alcorn State Braves travel to No. 1 ranked LSU Tuesday night for a 6:30 p.m. contest.

The Braves will conclude the regular season May 1 and 2 in Lorman against SWAC rival Mississippi Valley State for the rights to go to the SWAC Tournament.
