The Lady Hornets fell short Thursday night with a 1-0 loss as Brookhaven scored the winning goal late in the second half. Goalie Polly Patterson had one save and the defense was led by senior Shelby Richardson with 17 takeaways, Courtney Wyatt with 11 and Mikayla Warren with 10.

The Loyd Star boys team prevailed with a 3-2 victory. The Hornets were led by Brad Jasper with one goal and one assist. Lane Rogers and Ryan Nevels each had one goal and Blayne Brister had one assist. Goalie Zach Nevels had three saves and the defense was led by Dylan Smith with 12 takeaways, Lane Rogers and Brantley Brister with 11 followed by Bryson Brister and Bailey Smtih with 10.

The Loyd Star Invitational Soccer Tournament is this weekend with two games begin tonight and resuming with games all day on Saturday at the Hansel King Sportsplex. The price of admission $5 at the gate.
