BSW secures win over Magnolia
The Brookhaven Southern Wildcats captured one victory over the Magnolia Hurricanes in TNT Youth Football League action at King Field Saturday.
Brookhaven defeated the Hurricanes 33-0 in the 7-8 year-old game. The Wildcats fell 32-0 in the 9-10 year-old game. In 11-12 year-old action, the Chargers prevailed 28-12 over the Wildcats.
The Wildcats play again Saturday. They visit Jackson to battle the Open Arm Patriots. The 7-8 year-olds begin at 10 a.m. The 9-10 year-olds are set to start at 11:15 a.m. The 11-12 year-olds start at 12:30 p.m.
BSW 33, Hurricanes 0
Kenneth Dixon provided the offensive spark to lead the Wildcats with 195 yards rushing. Dixon scored four touchdowns on runs of 45, 40, 15, 40.
Kermit Sartin Jr. also scored a 20-yard touchdown. Nathan Lewis punched in a one-point and two-point conversion.
Alvin Brown was the second leading rusher for BSW with 55 yards. Jeremiah Bracey provided 35 yards rushing.
Defensively, Lewis directed the Wildcats with three tackles. Elijah Calcote, Samaji Braxton, Tyeland Coleman, Sartin and Bracey had two stops apiece.
Hurricanes 32, BSW 0
Daetyn Davis was the offensive leader for BSW with 55 yards rushing. Terrance Charles caught three passes for 25 yards.
Hurricanes 28, BSW 12
Jamie Finley paced the Wildcats with 130 yards rushing and scored a touchdown on a 50-yard run.
Byrion Robinson also scored a touchdowns on a 15-yard run.
Defensively, Finley was the top hitter for BSW with six tackles. Robinson contributed five stops. Micheal Jenkins had two tackles.
