Andre Milton, 40, of Bogue Chitto died Sunday when his vehicle left the road and struck a tree, Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said this morning.

The sheriff’s department got a call around 5 p.m. Sunday stating that there had been a one-car-accident about 1/2 mile north of Highway 84 on Jackson-Liberty Road, Rushing said.

The sheriff said it appeared that Milton’s 2007 Scion was traveling south on Jackson-Liberty Road when it ran off the shoulder and struck a tree. The vehicle caught fire.

A passerby was able to pull Milton from the car, but Lincoln County coroner Clay McMorris pronounced Milton dead at the scene of the accident. King’s Daughters emergency medical teams responded to the scene, and the Zetus Volunteer Fire Department put out the fire.

Rushing said Milton was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
