Loyd Star has hired Adam Cook as their new head football coach for the 2014 season. Cook replaces Coach Randall Huffman, who recently resigned as the head coach for Loyd Star football after four seasons of service.
“I am excited to be given the chance to coach here at Loyd Star,” said Cook. “This is a great opportunity and I can not wait to get started.
“Loyd Star has a family atmosphere, where everyone gets involved no matter what season it is,” continued Cook. “I have coached at several schools where it is tough to get families involved since the schools are a lot bigger.”
Cook’s stated that his number one goal is to put a good well-coached and competitive product out on the football field so that the community will come to show their support and to be proud of their team.”
Cook, 32, comes from Harrison Central, where he served as the defensive coordinator coach. He has been coaching for 10 years where he had other assistant coaching stints at George County, McLaurin, Pisgah, Biloxi and Drew High School.
Adam also stated he has a goal to start developing a powerlifting team during Loyd Star’s football off season. “I will also be the strength coach here and I am looking to restart the powerlift program here,” said Cook. “Bogue Chitto has proven that Lincoln County does have kids that are interested in getting stronger. And in return it does help the football team to grow stronger together.”
As a teacher, Cook will take on the responsibilities of teaching math and physical education.
Cook is a graduate from Mississippi College in 2004. He is currently pursuing his graduate courses from Delta State. He graduated Florence High School in 2000.
Adam’s hometown is Florence. He is the son of Dave and Becky Cook.
