Anne Steen Story

Funeral services for Anne Steen Story of Monticello were 2 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at Wilson Funeral Home and she was buried in Wanilla Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were men of the Monticello U.M. Church. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Sunday, April 6, 2014, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Story, 79, died April 4, 2014, at Lawrence County Nursing Center.

She was an accomplished musician and writer. Writing for Lawrence County Press and The Clarion Ledger, she was known for her short stories. Anne loved the history of Lawrence County and enjoyed writing historical stories. She worked for 32 years with the Mississippi High Way Department and served as a legislative spokes person.

Anne loved animals and one very special dog, named Muffin and her cat Jerry Lee. She enjoyed gardening and horticulture.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William Arthur Steen and Alma Seludia Edwards Steen and son, Robert Earl Wilson Jr.

Survivors are her husband, Billy J. Story of Monticello; daughter, Mary Victoria Wilson Kershaw of Monticello; sisters, Bobbie Steen Stephens and Billy of Monticello, Willie Catherine Hathorn of Oakvale; grandchildren, Bradley Stephen Bowen of Monticello, Victoria Anne Stinson of Jackson; great-grandchildren, Josie Claire Bowen, Kimie Elizabeth Bowen; and a host of nieces and nephews.
