Defending champion Wolfpack in third after first round of MACJC State Championship

WIGGINS – The defending State Champion Co-Lin Wolves find themselves in third place after the first round of the MACJC State Golf Championship held at Pine Burr Golf Club in Wiggins. The Wolfpack shot 312, seven shots behind leader Mississippi Gulf Coast (305) and one shot behind second place Northwest Mississippi (311). Other scores include Meridian 315, East Mississippi 316, Northeast Mississippi and East Central tied at 319, Jones JC 321 and Itawamba 330.
Individually, freshman Danny De Los Santos of Gulf Coast shot a sizzling 3-under 69. Blake Farris of Northeast, Taylor York of East Central and Hayes Weathersby of Gulf Coast are tied for second after 2-over 74. For the Wolfpack, sophomore Connor Barnes and freshman Ryan Desormeaux are in a rou-way tie for fifth after shooting 3-over 75. Other Co-Lin scores include Gregory Causey 79, Austin Schillaci 83 and Will Lee 86.
Round two is scheduled for 9 a.m. today. The top five teams and select individuals will advance to the NJCAA Region XXIII tournament to be held at Wolf Hollow in Wesson, MS, May 3-4. The MACJC First Team All-State and Second Team All-State will also be announced following Wednesday’s play.
