Brookhaven players advance to State, team playoffs start Friday at Brookhill

The 5A Regional Individual Tennis Tournament finished with great success Wednesday for the Panthers tennis players at Brookhill. The tournament was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but due to rain, had to be pushed to Wednesday for the conclusion.

In every individual event, Brookhaven finished in first or second place. Those proud individuals will advance to the State Individual Tournament to be held at Ridgeland Tennis Center on May 1-2.

Jacob Bozeman was the winner in boy’s singles defeating Natchez in the finals, 6-0, 6-0.

Sarah Grace Evans was the runner-up in girl’s singles – she was defeated by Natchez, 6-0, 6-3

Maddie Ogden and Alice Anne Walker won the girls’ doubles defeating another BHS duo, Chantel Quarles and Sarah Rice Warren, 4-6, 6-1, 7-6

Will Moak and Daniel Panzica won the boys’ doubles defeating the BHS team of Caleb Owens and Cooper Patterson, 6-2, 6-1

Braxton Hinton and Madison Currie defeated Natchez in the finals 6-1, 6-0 in the team event. The Panthers will host West Jones in the first round of the state playoffs Friday at Brookhill Tennis Center, starting at 2:30 p.m.
