Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s automotive technology program has added five new pieces of equipment. The equipment will be used in automotive technology courses labs, but will be specifically used to prepare the program for certification.

“It is so exciting to be able to offer students training with state-of-the art equipment that will prepare them to go to work immediately upon completion of their course work,” said Jackie Martin, dean of career, technical and workforce education.

“This new lab equipment provides our students with the most up-to-date technology available,” Martin added.

The equipment includes three 11,000-pound two-post lifts, a Hunter alignment system with lift and a Hunter tire changer.

The lab was made possible by funds through the Carl D. Perkins funds. The Perkins Act provided federal funds for vocational-technical programs for both youth and adults.

The Federal Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act (Perkins IV/CTEA) provides funds to postsecondary institutions, preparing students to be more competitive in the world economy.
