Graveside services for Sarah Maxine Davis of Texas are 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Monticello City Cemetery, located at F.E. Sellers Highway and Thomas E. Jolly Drive. Earthman Funeral Directors, of Houston, Texas, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Davis, 77, died July 23, 2013. She was born on July 11, 1936, in Brookhaven to Mary Louise Gibson and Ted Wallace.
Maxine married her husband, Julius A. Davis, in 1953. As the wife of a military service man, they made their home in several states before falling in love with the state of Texas, where she resided for 55 years.
With a spirit and love for dancing, Maxine was a member of the Rhythm Cloggers. She was also an active and faithful member of the Daytime Squares. In the past, she has clogged with the Syncopation Cloggers and danced with the Hey Lollies Square Dance Club.
Survivors are her husband, Julius A. Davis; and her daughter, Mary Louise Rodrigues; four grandchildren, Javier Horta, Shannon Horta, Gary Hults, and Jaclyn Hults; six great grandchildren, Izabella Horta, Anthony Haltmar, Alexis Hults and triplets, Elizabeth Maxine, Victoria Olga, and Olivia Viola Horta; several close and dear family members, Mary Jane Hartman, Robert Hue and Stella Wallace, Mitchell and Linda Davis and Irene Catt; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
