West Lincoln skins Eagles

The West Lincoln Bears captured two wins in baseball action Friday and Saturday.
In Friday’s game, the Bears managed to knock off the East Marion Eagles 11-10 to stay undefeated in Region 7-2A baseball action.
In Saturday’s contest, West Lincoln roasts the South Pike Eagles 18-1.
The Bears (9-2, 2-0) will be in action Tuesday as they travel to Liberty for Region 7-2A action against the Amite County Trojans. Junior varsity action begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6:30 p.m.
West Lincoln 11, East Marion 10
West Lincoln and East Marion provided an exciting offensive baseball game for their fans Friday night as both teams fought hard in a seesaw contest.
Tanner Boutwell was the winning pitcher for the Bears with five strikeouts and one walk.
Quinton Smith suffered the loss for East Marion with five strikeouts and six walks.
Lofton Sill sparked West Lincoln’s offense with a solo home run and two singles. Brady Wilson fueled the flames with a three-runs home run and a single. Alex Neal and Ty Forman contributed two singles apiece. Jeremy Burns ripped a double. Hitting safely were Bryce Temple, Tyler Moak and Chase Buckles.
Daveeon Johnson was the top hitter for the Columbia-based Eagles with two home runs and a single. Jonathan Abrams provided three singles. Anthony Ingram and Joseph Lefebre had a double and a single apiece. Quinton Smith had a double and Jarveon Howard hit a single.
In junior varsity action, West Lincoln claimed a 7-3 win over East Marion.
Turner Pyles pitched the win for the Bears with one strikeout and no walks. Lofton Sills (0K, 1BB) also pitched.
Austin Burris paced the Bears at the plate with a triple. Daniel Spears, Treston Roberts, Brady Thompson, Hunter Maxwell and Bransen Ainsworth hit safely.
West Lincoln 18, South Pike 1
Jeremy Burns tossed the win for the Bears with three strikeouts and no walks in six innings of action.
Blake Lantrip took the loss for South Pike with one strikeout and one walk.
Burns was also the leader at the plate for West Lincoln with a two-run home run and a solo home run. Alex Neal continued West Lincoln’s offensive onslaught with a solo home run and two singles. Forman provided a double and two singles. Sills, Wilson, Moak and Temple hit a pair of singles each. Boutwell had a single.
South Pike was led on offense with a single from Kendarius Varnado and Keshaun Nuox.
In junior varsity action, West Lincoln surpassed South Pike 5-3.
Nathanael Addison pitched victory for the Bears with four strikeouts and no walks. Hunter Maxwell (1K, 0BB) also saw action on the mound.
Spears directed the Bears at the plate with two singles. Austin Burris ripped a double. Hitting safely were Seth Bivens, Thompson and Pyles.
