West Lincoln crushes East Marion

COLUMBIA – The West Lincoln Bears crushed the East Marion Eagles 18-1 in Region 6-2A baseball action Tuesday night.
The Bears (7-2, 1-0) return home to host the East Marion Eagles in divisional rematch Friday. The junior varsity game starts at 5 p.m., followed by varsity action at 7 p.m.
West Lincoln 18, East Marion 1
West Lincoln quickly overpowered East Marion as they grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning and continued to increase their lead in the second inning to take a commanding 7-0 lead.
The Bears continued their offensive onslaught in the third, fourth and fifth innings to force the 15-run mercy rule in five innings of action.
East Marion cashed in only one run in the third inning.
Brady Wilson dominated the pitching mound for the Bears with 13 strikeouts and one walk.
Tre Tolan suffered the loss for the Eagles with two strikeouts and two walks. Anthony Ingram (2K, 2BB) and Daveeon Jefferson (2K, 0BB) also saw action on the mound in relief.
Tyler Moak sparked West Lincoln’s offense with a home run and a single. Tanner Boutwell and Jeremy Burns fueled the flames with double and two singles apiece. Lofton Sills provided a double and a single. Hitting safely were Bryce Temple, Brady Wilson and Ty Forman.
Jaylin Akin and Anthony Ingram were the top hitters for the Eagles with a single each.
In junior varsity action, East Marion defeated West Lincoln 7-4.
Ty Forman suffered the setback for the West Lincoln with no strikeouts and one walk. Seth Bivens (6K, 0BB) saw action on the mound in relief.
Austin Burns, Turner Pyles and Seth Bivens paced the Bears’ offense with a pair of singles apiece.
