Patricia Ruth Pilcher Hitchner

Memorial services for Patricia Ruth Pilcher Hitchner, formerly of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, at Jackson Street United Methodist Church in Brookhaven.
Mrs. Hitchner passed away in Hobbs, N.M., on Jan. 31, 2014. She was born on Jan. 23, 1931 to Mary B. and Albert M. Pilcher in South Gate, Calif. She married William G. Hitchner in Vineland, N.J. on Sept. 17, 1949.
She then proceeded to raise seven children, first in Vineland, and then in Brookhaven, beginning in 1960. Her husband worked for Hartley Gove and Sons for many years. All seven of her children attended Brookhaven Public Schools, as well as Jackson Street United Methodist Church, of which Pat considered herself a member until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Berta and Lee; brothers Edward and Edgar Pilcher; and her beloved husband, William.
She is survived by her four daughters: Deni Selvig and husband, Kermit, of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; Janet Matula of Walls, Miss.; Elizabeth Hall and Dennis of Brookhaven; Mary Brister and husband, Luke of Hobbs, N.M.; and three sons: Richard Hitchner and wife, Sherry of Widefield, Colo., David Hitcher and wife, Kathy, of Baton Rouge, La. and Kevin Hitchner and wife, Laura, of Tulsa, Okla. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and multiple step-grand and great grandchildren.
