It’s tournament basketball time once again as teams get set to battle and make a run in the state basketball playoffs. Local fans will have plenty of action to watch as Bogue Chitto hosts the 7-1A tournament and North Pike hosts the 7-4A tournament.

Many basketball fans will have to travel to support their school in other tournaments. Brookhaven’s Panthers will travel to Jackson to play in the Region 6-5A Tournament at Wingfield, starting Monday. The Panthers finished No. 1 and will play No. 4 Pearl River Central, Monday at 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Panthers are seeded No. 3 and will play Tuesday at 6 p.m. against No. 2 Wingfield.

The championship games for all Region Tournaments are set for Friday.

In Region 7-1A, the Bogue Chitto girls and boys are seeded as the No. 3 seed teams. They will host teams of Hinds AHS, Pelahatchie, St. Aloysius, Natchez Cathedral, MSD, and Piney Woods. Tournament action starts Monday.

In Region 7-2A, West Lincoln, Loyd Star and Enterprise will be on the road to play in their region tournament at Bassfield.

The West Lincoln Bears and the Amite County Lady Trojans are seeded No. 1 in the Tournament. The Loyd Star Lady Hornets and the Amite County Boys are the No. 2 seed teams. These teams have earned an opening round bye and will start action Thursday.

In Region 7-3A, Wesson, Franklin County and Hazlehurst will be visiting Crystal Springs for tournament action.

In Region 7-4A, the North Pike Lady Jaguars and the McComb Tigers will be seeded No. 1 in the tournament. The Lawrence County Cougars and the South Pike Lady Eagles are seeded as the No. 2 seed teams.

In MAIS action, Brookhaven Academy will be in action as the Cougars and Lady Cougars travel to Winona Christian School to take part in the State AA Tournament. The Lady Cougars and Cougars will enter as the No. 3 seed out of the South AA tournament. Game day opponents and times have not been set.
