Bears roll past Franklin Co.; Lady Bulldogs bite West Lincoln

Junior guard Duane Marshall pumped in a game-high double-double of 28 points and 11 rebounds to lead four players in double figures as the West Lincoln Bears thumped the Franklin County Bulldogs 75-53 Tuesday night in Jack Case Gymnasium.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Bulldogs clobbered the Lady Bears 35-21.
West Lincoln continues action Thursday as they visit Sinclair Gymnasium to battle the Brookhaven Panthers and Lady Panthers. The girls tip off at 6 p.m., followed by the boys.
Franklin County returns home to host the North Pike Jaguars Friday night. The varsity girls begin at 6 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30.
Franklin Co. 35, W. Lincoln 21
The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Bears battled back and forth to a 13-all tie at halftime, before Franklin County turned up the heat in the second half to outscore West Lincoln 22-8 to claim the win.
Sophomore guard Layton Sills was the offensive scorer for the Lady Bears with nine points. Heather Moak led on the boards with six rebounds.
“You cannot win or come close to winning with 39 turnovers,” said West Lincoln coach Lane Young.
“Brianta O’Quinn netted a game-high 12 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs.
W. Lincoln 75, Franklin Co 53
The Bears came out and overpowered the Bulldogs to claim a 38-19 lead at halftime. Franklin County charged back 21-11 in the third quarter but was overwhelmed by the Bears 26-13 explosion in the fourth quarter.
Ronnie Edwards added 12 points and eight rebounds to help lead the Bears’ charge. Sam Bivens contributed 11 points, eight rebounds, seven block shot and four assists. Ke-Shaun London provided 10 points.
Del’Evante White was the offensive scorer for the Bulldogs with 14 points. Josh Toy contributed 13 points.
In junior varsity girls’ action, Franklin County edged the Lady Bears 22-18.
Dameisha Griffin and Shayanna Doss led the Lady Bulldogs with seven points apiece.
Sara Jane Doty and Demesha Deer paced the Lady Bears with six points each.
