Wesson recognizes athletes

WESSON – The Wesson Cobras honored their varsity athletes with a fall banquet Thursday night to commemorate the football, softball and cheerleading squads.
Wesson head football coach Ronald Greer welcomed the large crowd to the banquet held at the Wesson Attendance Center cafeteria .
Quarterback Tyler Christmas received the Most Valuable Player Award in the football. Bailey Middleton were selected Most Valuable Players in softball. Elise Whittington received the Cheerleader of the Year Award for cheerleading.
Seniors in each sport was recognized with awards for their effort. All team members received certificates for their participation.
Football Awards
Best Offensive Back/Receiver: Otis Smith. Best Offensive Lineman: Mitchell Hughes. Best Offensive Player: Tyler Christmas. Best Defensive Back: Javoris Smith and Timothy Craft. Best Defensive Lineman: Otis Smith. Best Defensive Player: Kendrick Brown. Team Captains: Otis Smith and Nick Lewis. Most Improved: C.J. Viramontez. Most Versatile: Dartavious Dixon. Iron Cobra Award: Kendrick Brown and Dillon Blaylock. Jim Lowery Attitude Award: Dustin “Melvin” Jackson. Coaches Award: Blake Burns. Most Valuable Player Award: Tyler Christmas. Senior Awards: Nick Lewis, Akintayo Oyebola, C.J. Viramontez, Dustin Jackson, Otis Smith, Javoris Smith, Mitchell Hughes, Josh Francois, Luis Mellado, Adam Hamilton and Chace Twiner.
Softball Awards

Most Valuable Player: Bailey Middleton.
