LIBERTY – The Amite County Trojans used their speed and athletic ability to slay the West Lincoln Bears 46-14 Friday night in Region 7-2A action.

“The kids played hard,” said West Lincoln coach Willie Brumfield. “We made a few mistake during crucial parts of the game that hurt us in the end. Overall, I am very proud of the guys. They showed a lot of character and poised throughout the contest.”

Junior running back Javian MacKabee managed to put the Bears on the scoreboard in the second quarter with a seven-yard touchdown run. Tyler Moak finished perfect on two extra point kicks for West Lincoln.

In the third quarter, senior running back Sloan Nation cashed in the Bears final score on a 70-yard kickoff return.

West Lincoln finished with 228 yards total offense against Amite County.

Senior quarterback Jonah King was the offensive leader for West Lincoln, completing five-of-11 passes for 107 yards. He also rushed for 15 yards on three carries.

Bryce Temple led the ground attack with 13 rushes for 65 yards. MacKabee helped with 39 yards on 16 carries.

Defensively, Kodie Carroll paced the Bears with 10 tackles. Jada Use and Luke Barrilleaux provided eight stops each.

West Lincoln returns home after a three-week road tour to host the East Marion Eagles on Perry Miller Field. Amite County visit Bassfield to battle the 2A defending state champions Bassfield Yellowjackets. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
