BA divides with Silliman

The Silliman (La.) Institute Wildcats shot the lights out inJohn R. Gray Gymnasium and upset the Brookhaven Academy Cougars55-50 Saturday night. They were powered by Adam Elam and SpenceMcLain with 17 and 15 points respectively.
In the varsity girls, game, Betsy Lynch sacked 12 points, DrewHolland Tigner 11 and Kelli Snider 10 in Brookhaven Academy’s 49-35win over the Lady Wildcats.
Brookhaven Academy resumes play Tuesday at Copiah Academy inGallman.
The Cougars (11-3) got 4 rebounds from DanielLofton in a weak overall rebounding performance.
Silliman almost shot 80 percent for the game. The Wildcats werea perfect 11-of-11 from the free throw line.
“I was very, very disappointed with our team’s lack ofintensity,” said BA boys coach Dale Watts.
The game was tied 34-34 entering the final 8 minutes ofaction.
The Lady Cougars (16-3) were led in reboundingby Tigner with 9 boards. Kacey Rutland had 7 rebounds. Lynch had 4assists.
Coach Barry Gray’s girls led Silliman 20-12 at halftime.
Thirteen points by Mary Kennedy led Silliman in scoring.
Junior High Action
In the junior high girls game, Brookhaven (11-2) roared to a48-21 win over Silliman, led by Anna Katelyn Mangold’s 10 points.Summer Calhoun and Terah Winborne each had 9 points.
Silliman got 5 points from Jennifer Gallup.
