Board approves specialty car tag for Enterprise

Lincoln County residents will soon have the option of displaying their school spirit on specialty car tags.
The Lincoln County School Board approved a request from Enterprise Attendance Center Principal Shannon Eubanks to initiate the process of creating license plates bearing the Yellow Jacket colors.
Before the state can begin production on the tags, 300 must be pre-sold. Enterprise will be responsible for collecting the fees for the initial 300.
The tags will cost $31 more than the cost of a standard license plate. State statute accrues $24 from that cost to go to the organization (Enterprise Attendance Center) with the remainder dispersed by the Department of Revenue.
So far, Enterprise is the only school to approach the board with interest in selling specialty tags, but various area schools will have the option thanks to state Rep. Bobby Moak’s contribution to a House bill passed during the 2013 Mississippi legislative session.
Among other action at the Monday meeting, the school board approved measures allowing the district to pay for a student’s medical bills.
The mentioned student cut his foot on a district bus where there was exposed metal on a seat.
Stitches were required for his injuries.
Also, the board approved a request for personnel to attend the Mississippi Association of School Superintendents Conference July 7-12 in Biloxi.
Superintendent Terri Brister will be in attendance, as well as all of the principals, assistant principals and curriculum directors in the district.
In other board activity, a public hearing was scheduled for Monday, June 17, to allow citizens to review the board’s proposed budget.
Following the public hearing, the budget will be approved by the board in a special called meeting on June 27.
