The unbeaten Brookhaven Academy Cougars return home to R.M.”Red” Stuard Field Friday night to entertain East Rankin Academy’sPatriots for homecoming. The game kicks off at 7.

In area academy action, Copiah visits Parklane for a big ClassAAA matchup.

Last Friday, Brookhaven Academy (8-0) came back to take downTrinity Episcopal 25-21. Trinity was the No. 1 ranked team in theMAIS Class A poll. East Rankin was hammered 18-0 by Oak Forest, La.last Friday.

Brookhaven Academy is ranked No. 5 in the Associated PressPrivate School Poll.

Cougar head football coach Herbert Davis talked about Class AAAEast Rankin (1-7).

“East Rankin lost their quarterback at the start of the year,”said Davis. “They were running a spread offense then. Now they havetrouble running. They aren’t scoring. They have a good defense.

“Hopefully, we will get some good weather,” added Davis. “We’llhave a good crowd.”

In the win over Trinity, junior quarterback Chandler Rogerscompleted 13 of 24 passes for 31- yards and 3 touchdowns. TrippJolly was the top receiver with 4 catches for 155 yards and 2touchdowns. Donovan Lorraine followed with 5 catches for 50yards.

The Cougar defense was led by Bailey Hodge and Lorraine with 13tackles apiece. Jamison Powell collected 12 tops followed by MarkRushing with 10. Hodge also recovered a fumble.

Copiah (5-3, 1-1) handed Leake Academy a 37-14 whipping. TheGallman-based Colonels are coached by Scotty Cline.

Parklane pounded Bowling Green 32-6 last week.

Copiah Academy head coach Scotty Cline said Parklane is asenior-rich team.

“Parklane is big and fast,” said Cline. “They have 27 seniors.Running back Josh Armstreet and quaterback Steven Swindle lead theoffense. They like running it more than throwing it. I am going tohope for the best this week.

Kelton Smith rushed the football 22 times for 277 yards andscored 4 touchdowns for Copiah. Brandon Smith caught a 50-yardtouchdown pass from quarterback Ben Boone.

Defensively, Boone intercepted 1 pass for the Colonels.

Parklane (5-2, 2-0) puts its 5-game winning streak on the linewhen they host Copiah. Parklane rolled over Bowling Green, La. 32-6in last Friday’s contest. The McComb-based Pioneers are under thedirection of Bo Milton.

Milton studied Copiah on film and said the Colonels are playingtheir best football right now.

“Copiah is a well coached team as they always are. They playgood on defense. Their offense is picking up the pace. They areplaying as good as they have all year. It should be a realinteresting ballgame.”

In the victory over Bowling Green, Armstreet led the Pioneerground game with 21 carries for 97 yards and scored 2 touchdowns.On the season, he has rushed for 780 yards and scored 13touchdowns.

In the air, Swindle completed 11 of 20 passes for 176 yards and2 touchdowns for Parklane. He has passed for 12 touchdowns thisyear. Micah Moore caught 2 passes for 72 yards and a pair of TDs.Chance Schmidt had 3 catches for 36 yards.

Defensively, Jack Kitaif led with 5.5 tackles followed by JordanTaylor with 5.
