Enterprise shuts out Lady Hornets

The Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets completed the first half oftheir district schedule undefeated after crushing the Loyd StarLady Hornets 13-0 Monday night in Region 6-2A softballaction.
“I am glad to get the win,” said Enterprise coach Charissa Burke.”Our girls did a good job refocusing, after the loss last Friday,to take care of business and get a district win against a goodteam.
“Loyd Star has a good young team,” continued Burke. “They will playyou tough because they are a well-coached team.”
The Lady Jackets (7-2, 4-0) resume action Thursday traveling toface the Puckett Lady Wolves for a district match up. Game timebegins with junior varsity at 5 p.m. followed by varsity at 6p.m.
The Lady Hornets (0-6, 0-3) take a break from division action tohost the Natchez Cathedral Lady Green Wave Thursday. Junior varsitystarts at 5:30 p.m., followed the varsity at 6:30 p.m.

The Lady Jackets took advantage of Loyd Star’s youthfulness tocapitalized on the Lady Hornets mistakes and quickly set the toneof the game. Enterprise was the first to jump on the scoreboard byscoring three runs in the first inning. The Lady Jackets provided ahuge inning in the third scoring 10-runs against Loyd Star.
Freshman left-hander Hannah Moak was the winning pitcher for theLady Jackets with 11 strikeouts and one walk. Bonnie Burke absorbedthe loss for the Lady Hornets with five strikeouts and fourwalks.
Hannah Moak also produced the offensive firepower for Enterprisewith a double and a single. Kaitlin Moak belted a double. Hittingsafely were Karla Beth Hux, Taylor Nelson, Ashley Boyd, ChynnaCoghlan and Kayla Britt.
The Lady Hornets was led offensively with singles from SarahFalvey, Hannah Smith and Ali Gartman.
“Enterprise has a very good team,” said Loyd Star coach JanDelaughter. “We are a young team that made a lot of mental mistakesrather that physical.”
In JV action, the Lady Hornets cruised past the Lady Jackets10-3.
Kelsey McCullough grabbed the victory as the pitcher for Loyd Starwith seven strikeouts and three walks. Lauren McCaffrey sufferedthe loss for Enterprise with no strikeouts and eight walks.
Haleigh Hux and Hannah Smith were the offensive leaders forEnterprise with a home run apiece. Raigan Smith smashed a double.Lexi Butler contributed two singles. Hitting safely were AliGartman, Madison Jones and Haley Smith.
Markie Case was the spark for the Lady Jackets offense with atriple. Alex Rae Smith belted a double. Enterprise got singles fromKristen Jergins and McCaffrey.
