W. Marion tramples Enterprise

The visiting West Marion Trojan posted a 16-5 win over theEnterprise Yellow Jackets in varsity baseball action.
Joey Rainer was the winning pitcher with 7 strikeouts and 2walks. Corey Everett absorbed the loss, striking out 1 batter andwalking 4.
“We hit the ball well,” said West Marion coach Ryan Stringer.”We did not pitch well, but that probably was because Enterprisehit the ball well.”
West Marion (13-4, 8-0) went up 4-0 in the top of the firstinning. Enterprise (5-7, 2-3) cut the deficit to 9-4 in thesecond.
Third-inning action saw West Marion outscore Enterprise 7-1 forthe 16-5 lead in the five-inning contest.
“Pitching and our defense was not there tonight,” explainedEnterprise coach Seth Lofton. “But a good team will bounceback.”
Matt Floyd led Enterprise with a home run and a double. TrentRutland doubled and Tanner Delcombe singled.
Rainer sparked the Trojans at the plate with a homer and asingle. Tripling was Jeremy Lynn. Jonathan Foxworth doubled andsingled. Derek Bedwell doubled. Singling were Derick Morgan andJosh McSwan.
Junior varsity results
In JV play, West Marion won 5-1 over Enterprise. Ryan Kenedy,Trent Herrington and Delcombe singled for the Jackets.
The Trojans got a double from Josh Statham. Sam Regan, EthanWhaley and Darius Miller hit safely.
