BA goes 1-1 in tourney

McCOMB – The Brookhaven Lady Cougars managed to win one of twogames at the Parklane Tournament Saturday in fastpitch softballaction.
BA lost to Parklane 14-1 in the first game. In the second game, theCougars beat ACCS 5-2. Brookhaven was ahead of East Rankin 4-3 inthe first inning before being canceled due to rain.
The Cougars (4-7) will play today against Bowling Green at theHansel King Sportsplex. The junior varsity will start at 5,followed by the varsity at 6:15 p.m.
Parklane 14, BA 1
Anna Katelyn Mangold absorbed the loss for BA, collecting fourstrikeouts and allowing four walks.
Natalie Keene and Anna Smith led the Cougars offensively with twosingles apiece. Laura Beth Wright hit a triple. Hitting safely wereTerah Winborne, Meredith Allen, Allie Livingston and DestinyAllen.
BA 5, ACCS 2
Mangold (3-3) showcased a strong pitching performance for theCougars, collecting one strikeout and allowing three walks.
Winborne and Keene brought the offensive firepower for BA with twosingles apiece. Anna Smith, Anna Grace Cupit, Wright and Allen hitsafely.
