Bogue Chitto clips Wesson

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats (8-1) struggled to getthings going in the first half, but settled down and cruised to a73-50 Tuesday night win over the Wesson Lady Cobras (2-5) in R.L.”Bob” Calhoun Gymnasium.
In the boys’ action, Javier Gee scored five points in the lastminute of the game to help rally the Bobcats (6-3) to a 58-54victory over the Wesson Cobras (0-5).
Bogue Chitto resume action Thursday hosting the Lincoln CountyRound-Robin Tournament. The Bobcats and Lady Cats will battleEnterprise. The girls’ game tips off at 7 p.m. followed by theboys. Loyd Star plays West Lincoln at 4 and 5:30 p.m.
Wesson will have a rare 10-day layoff before returning to actionFriday, Dec 17, hosting a division game against the Puckett Wolves.Tipoff begins with the girls’ game at 6 p.m. followed by theboys.
Bogue Chitto 73, Wesson 50
Senior guard Aneshia Dillon pumped in a game high 28 points to leadthe Lady Cats. Teareon Rogers provided a career game by collectinga double-double with 16 points and 18 rebounds.
“This was a hard-fought game,” said BC coach Christi Terrell. “Westarted off slow in the first half, but we played a lot better inthe second half. Overall, we are happy to get the win. We have along week ahead of us and now we must get ready for the LincolnCounty Round-Robin.”
Madison Rials was the top scorer for the Lady Cobras with 13points. Maura Smith contributed 11 points. Dylann Harris led theboards for Wesson with 8 rebounds.
“We are steadily improving in every game,” said Wesson coach RustiMagee. “Our girls still have to learn to play all four quarters.Overall, I am pleased with how well we played against a goodteam”
Bogue Chitto 58, Wesson 54
Germie Martin had a career night by leading the Bobcats with 16points. Greg Turner developed a hot shooting hand coming off thebench and scored 11 points.
“We played second half ball,” said BC coach Jeremy Harrell. “Theguys stepped up by making some big plays toward the end of the gameand then locked down on defense for the win.”
Gib Britt and Jy-Metrius Sutton were the top guns for the Cobras,scoring 15 points apiece. D.J. Coleman provided 11 points andgrabbed 8 rebounds.
“The guys played hard the whole game,” said Wesson coach RustyNewman. “We just did not do the little things down the stretchwhich cost us the game. Overall, I was very pleased with how wellwe played offensively.”
In junior high action, The Lady Cats stunned the Wesson Lady Cobras38-21. Christian Black led Bogue Chitto with 18 points. DaJourSutton was the leading scorer for the Lady Cobras with 8points.
In the boys’ game, Wesson walloped Bogue Chitto 46-20. Farrod Greenand Mack Smith scored 8 points apiece to lead the Cobras. TheBobcats were led by three players who scored 4 points apiece: ZacDillon, Jeremiah Perkins and Branden Blackwell.
