The Brookhaven Academy Cougars hope to wrap up their final gameof the season with a win Friday night against Riverfield Academy inMonroe, La. A victory over Riverfield would extend the Cougars’3-game winning streak to four. Game time is 7 p.m.

In area academy action, Lamar is at Parklane and Copiahentertains Bowling Green. Union Academy wrapped up its season lastFriday, falling to University Christian 52-6.

Last Friday’s games involving District 4-AA teams saw BA smashBowling Green 35-14, Oak Forest plunder Columbia 30-14 and Simpsoncrush Silliman Institute 42-6.

BA (4-6, 1-4) played through a tough district schedule and wantsto finish its season on a winning note. Riverfield comes into thegame 6-4 overall and 3-2 in District 3-AA play.

“They (Riverfield) are third in their district,” said BA headcoach Ray Ishee. “They run the ball well. They throw the deep ballpretty good. We have to defend the whole field. They can throw andrun the ball pretty well. We have to control the ball and not makemistakes and give them an easy score.”

Ishee said his team’s offense played well against Bowling Green.”Collins (Case) threw the ball real well last week. If we rush thefootball like we did, we feel good about the game.”

In the win over Bowling Green, Cougar quarterback Collins Casedirected the air game, completing 18 of 29 passes for 280 yards anda touchdown. Eric Terry led the receiving corps with 7 catches for108 yards. Stewart Sessums had 3 catches for 71 yards.

In the win over Bowling Green, BA’s running game was sparked byCole Hodges with 13 rushes for 75 yards.

Leading the Cougar defense with 12 tackles was Jonathan Watts.Cameron Achord finished with 11 tackles.

Last season, Riverfield nipped BA 7-0.

Parklane (2-6, 2-2) jumped back in the win column following lastFriday’s 28-0 victory over Adams Christian. Coach Charlie Newlon’sPioneers gear up for a battle with District 2-AAA (Division 2)leader Lamar School of Meridian (8-1, 3-1).

Lamar handed Copiah a 35-7 district loss last Friday.

In last year’s game, Lamar clipped Parklane 14-7.

Copiah (1-9, 0-5) faces a smaller classification foe in District4-AA Bowling Green but the Buccaneers are hardly pushovers . CoachJohn Callahan’s Gallman-based Colonels are No. 4 in the District2-AAA (Division 2) rankings.

Last season, Copiah fell to Bowling Green 44-14.
