WESSON – Senior guard Josh Hood will be trading his Wesson Cobrablack and blue uniform colors for Co-Lin Wolfpack blue and whitenext season. Hood signed a basketball scholarship Tuesday to playfor Co-Lin men’s head coach Dennis Sims and his Wolves nextseason.

“I am just excited and looking forward to playing college ball,”said Hood.

Hood, a 6-foot senior guard, led the Cobras, averaging 14.2points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Hoodholds the school record for most treys in one game with 9.

Co-Lin coach Dennis Sims said he was happy to have Hood join hisprogram. He is an exceptional shooter.”

“Josh’s main asset is that he can make shot when he’s open,”continued Sims.

Sims said Hood participated in Co-Lin’s annual basketball campsand improved his skills in several areas. “We have watched him growand mature at our summer camps. He’s a good young man.

“Josh knows what he has to do to improve his game,” Simscontinued. “I already know he will do well in the classroom,too.”

Wesson boys head coach Ron Kessler has coached Hood for sixyears at Wesson.

“Josh has played for me all six years,” explained Kessler. “Ihad the opportunity to see him grow as a basketball player. He is avery hard worker; much like (his cousin) Brandt. He really gotdetermined after his sophomore year and worked on his outsideshot.

“Josh was a tough guard to guard,” added Kessler. “He mixed itup inside. He broke his cousin Brandt’s 2006 six 3-pointers recordin a game this year at St. Al with 9 treys.”

Hood’s major in college is undecided but he wants to takecourses related to law.

“It was special to me, a good memory,” stated Hood about settingthe new 3-point record.

His favorite player is point guard Chris Paul of the New OrleansHornets. His favorite NBA team is the Hornets. He also likes Dukein college basketball.

Recently signing with Co-Lin were Anthony Evans, a 5-11, guard,and Glenn Ford, a 5-9 guard from Greenville-Weston; Josh Hollins ,a 6-5 forward from Crystal Springs; Marcus Hooten, a 6-2 guard;Jordan Smith, a 6-5 forward, and DeMorris Summers, a 6 -2 guard,all from Provine; Earl Warren, a 6-4 forward from Dutchtown, La.;and Maurice Williams, a 6-3 guard from Vicksburg.
