RICHLAND -The Richland Lady Rangers eluded Loyd Star’s LadyHornets 13-11 Monday in a Division 6-2A slowpitch softballcontest.
RICHLAND -The Richland Lady Rangers eluded Loyd Star’s LadyHornets 13-11 Monday in a Division 6-2A slowpitch softball contest.Loyd Star rallied to lead 11-10 in the sixth but was unable tomaintain the advantage as the Lady Hornets committed nine errors inthe game.
Loyd Star (6-11, 3-3) finished with 18 hits, led byleft-centerfielder Dana Coke who homered twice and singled. Thirdbaseman Nikki Hunsucker collected 3 singles. Pitcher Jordan Britthit a 3 RBI triple. Beth Smith doubled.
Collecting 2 hits for Loyd Star were Leah Smith, Rusti Jacksonand Beck Smith. Hitting safely were Ashton Williams, Heather Britt,Samantha Smith and Whitney Hedgepeth.
Emily Woods led Richland, 4-3 in division play, at the platewith 2 doubles and a single. The Lady Rangers avenged a 16-1 losslast Thursday at Loyd Star.
Loyd Star hosts Wesson today for division action, starting at 5p.m., with a junior varsity game. Varsity action starts at 6.
In the JV game, Richland posted a 5-4 win in 4 innings.Kristin Newell was the losing pitcher.
Loyd Star (8-5) got homers from Erica Spencer and JamikaHenderson. Mindy Morse and Newell singled twice.
