Pearl River collects South Division win over Co-Lin

POPLARVILLE – Turnovers and penalties marred Thursday night’sMississippi Association of Community and Junior College’s SouthDivision match-up between the Copiah-Lincoln Community CollegeWolves and the Pearl River Community College Wildcats.
Before a near capacity crowd (est. 2,500) in Dobie HoldenStadium, the Wildcats held on for a hard-fought 14-2 over theWolfpack. Auburn University head coach Tommy Tuberville was inattendance to watch several potential recruits.
Both teams continue in South Division play on Thursday. Co-Linwelcomes Gulf Coast to Stone Stadium. Pearl River travels toDecatur to take on East Central. Last night, Gulf Coast shutoutHinds 61-0
Both teams combined for 30 penalties and 261 yards with Co-Linbeing flagged a whopping 21 times for 186 yards. Each teamcommitted 6 turnovers apiece. The Wolves threw 5 interceptions andhad a fumble. Pearl River fumbled 3 times and had 3 passes pickedoff.
“We made a lot of mistakes tonight,” said Co-Lin head coach GlenDavis. “We were not focused tonight.”
