Services for J. R. Etheridge of Brookhaven are 11 a.m., Friday,Jan. 18, at Hartman Funeral Home Chapel in McComb with burial inHollywood Cemetery. Dr. Ken Kirk and Dr. Johnny Bley will conductthe services.
Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. untilservice time at the funeral home.
Mr. Etheridge, 81, died Jan. 16, 2002, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. He was born in Smithdale on Sept. 27, 1920.
He was a retired building contractor and founded J. R. EtheridgeConstruction in 1956. He was a member of Brookhaven Church of Godand a former member of First Assembly of God in McComb. He like torestore old automobiles, especially Model A’s, and he enjoyedgardening.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Phineo Carter and ZellaJane Elizabeth Bates Etheridge; his brothers, Vernon Etheridge,Ernest Etheridge, and Robert Lee Etheridge; his sister, RubyMorgan; and his great-grandson, Zachary Wayne Bryan.
Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Margarette McCall Etheridgeof Brookhaven; his sons, Bobby Etheridge of McComb, Roger Etheridgeand wife Margie of Summit, and Jerry Etheridge and wife Carolyn ofBrookhaven; his brothers, Hilton Etheridge of Natchez and JuliusEtheridge of Columbia, Tenn.; and 10 grandchildren and 15great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Etheridge, Louis Etheridge, J.Etheridge, Dan Etheridge, Glen Etheridge, and William Etheridge.Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Earl Etheridge, Paul Etheridge,Noel Nolasco, Kelly Honea, James Lee Etheridge, and ScottEtheridge.
