Loyd Star holds BC hitless

Patrick Holcomb and Michael Britt combined to pitch a no-hitterTuesday night and power the host Loyd Star Hornets to a 12-0 winover the winless Bogue Chitto Bobcats in four innings of baseballaction. The game was called under the 10-run rule.
Holcomb fanned seven batters and walked one on his way to thewin. Corey Washington struck out one and walked three in theloss.
“Michael and Patrick combined for a no-hitter,” said Loyd Starhead coach Jonathan Breakfield. “The Bogue Chitto pitcher(Washington) is a good pitcher. We just came out and hit the ball.Patrick had his stuff working tonight.”
Loyd Star went up 6-0 in the bottom of the first inning, 7-0 inthe second 9-0 in the third and 12-0 in the fourth.
Tyler Williford drilled a home run for Loyd Star. Jared Rogersbelted three triples. Brett Fielder smashed a pair of triples.Collecting two singles was Britt. Jeremy James doubled. Holcomb hitsafely.
The Hornets (8-2, 0-1) travel to McComb Friday for two games,with the junior varsity starting at 4:30 p.m., followed by thevarsity at 6:30.
“We are starting to come around even though the score does notshow it,” said Bogue Chitto coach Adam Moak. “Corey pitched good.We must cut down on our errors.”
Bogue Chitto (0-7, 0-4) meets Natchez Cathedral Saturday atSouth Pike in Magnolia.
Junior varsity action
Loyd Star pounded Bogue Chitto 13-0 in the JV game. JohnMcCaffrey tripled and doubled. Steven Barros collected a triple anda single. Doubling were John Floyd and Dustin Brewer. J.J. Jonessingled.
Tyler Duffy doubled and singled for Bogue Chitto. Chase Bonhanhit safely.
