WESSON – Freshman guard Latoria Holder was the leading scorerfor the Co-Lin Lady Wolves in two games over three days. In Mondaynight’s game against the Northeast Community College Lady Tigers,the 5-foot-8 Lumberton native pumped in 19 points, grabbed 5rebounds and made 5 steals to lead the hosts to a lopsided 83-38win in Mullen Gymnasium.

Saturday at Scooba, Holder directed the Lady Wolves with 14points and 5 rebounds in their victory over the East MississippiLady Lions.

And Holder is a reserve.

“We played really, really well,” smiled Holder after Monday’swin. “We played a good defense. We shot the ball well. I playedreally good. I did everything I was supposed to do. We played ourA- game tonight.”

The win improved the Co-Lin record to 12-1 overall. The LadyWolves remain 1-0 in the South Division.

Holder was joined by three other teammates in double figures.Rachel Vigers fired in 15 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. RhondaDumas finished with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Following with 10points and 10 rebounds for a double-double was YashundaWilliams.

Co-Lin women’s head coach Gwyn Young felt there were threecontributing factors in the win last night. “Northeast had a longbus ride, we jumped on them to start the game and they couldn’tmake their shots.”

The 5-6 Lady Tigers, coached by Ricky G. Ford, never lead ortied the Lady Wolves in the game. Co-Lin jumped out to an 8-0 leadbefore Eboni Crayton scored the first basket for Northeast at the15:42 mark, cutting the Co-Lin lead to 8-2.

With 12:31 remaining in the first half, Holder stole the ballfor a layup, followed with a trey, then made another field goal for7 straight points to give the Lady Wolves an18-8 lead. Dumasproduced back-to-back field goals and a free throw for 5 straightpoints and a 32-10 lead for the Lady Wolves with 5:25 left.

At the half, Co-Lin commanded a 24-point, 38-14 lead.

“Our bench has been doing great,” stated Young. The bench wasresponsible for scoring 43 of the 83 points.

The Lady Wolves started the second half with a quick 10-1 run topush their lead to 48-15 with 16:27 left in the game.

“It was a good overall game,” added Young. “The starters had agood game. We hit the boards. We had 27 offensive and 38 defensiverebounds. We came back from the holidays playing with a lot ofeffort.”

Leading Northeast with 8 points was 5-8 freshman forward KailieMontgomery of Belmont. Bionca Hill netted 7 points.

Young talked about Thursday’s game with Southwest at Summit.”Southwest is always tough to play. This will be our seconddivision game.”
