BA Cougars chop down Oak Forest

AMITE, La. – The Brookhaven Academy Cougars knocked off the OakForest Yellow Jackets 12-9 Friday night in the final home game ofthe regular season. The Cougars improved to 19-2 with the win.
Brookhaven Academy, coached by Stephen Cooksey, is the District4-AA champ and will host District 3-AA runner-up Central HindsTuesday night. The game is expected to start at 6 p.m.
At the plate, Brookhaven outhit Oak Forest 17-7.
Brookhaven led 3-0 in the first inning but Oak Forest came backto take a 5-3 lead in the second. The Cougars went on a 9-4 run inthe final four innings to secure the win.
Ben McKinney (5-0) was the winning pitcher in four innings with2 strikeouts and 3 walks. Jonathan White pitched the fifth inning,with 3 walks and a strikeout.
Absorbing the loss was Shane Holland with 2 strikeouts and awalk.
Powering the Cougars with a home run and two singles was PaulDavis. Corey Dickerson doubled and singled twice. Collecting adouble and a single was Price Sessums. Ripping two singles eachwere Kolby Byrd, Ryan Vanderslice and McKinney. T-Boy Lynchdoubled. Seth Davis and Steven Covington singled.
Holland collected a double and a single for Oak Forest. MattPoirrier singled twice. Randall Miller, Josh Miller and JarrettGlass hit safely.
