WESSON — Credit Co-Lin forward Cedric Walker for making the bigplays when he needed to in Monday night’s huge 65-62 South Divisionwin over the Gulf Coast Bulldogs in Mullen Gymnasium.

Walker, a 6-7 sophomore from West Memphis, scored a clutchbasket to tie the game a 62-all with 38 seconds left in the game.Co-Lin teammate Joe Holliday launched a big three-pointer with 3.3seconds to put the Wolves on top of the Bulldogs 65-62.

On the inbounds pass, Walker intercepted the basketball and heldon as Co-Lin held a huge celebration at the buzzer.

“Our guys showed a lot of character and poise,” said Co-Linmen’s head coach Dennis Sims after the win. “It shows we can comeback and beat anyone.”

Walker was the leading scorer for Co-Lin with 17 points.

“Joe Holliday came back with two big three-pointers,” addedSims. “Walker was great at the end.”

The victory gives the Wolves a 3-0 record in the division andimproved them to 9-5 on the season. The Bulldogs, coached byWendell Weathers, fell to 10-5 overall and 2-1 in the South.

“We have now won the last three games by three points (in eachgame),” added Sims.

Co-Lin pulled out a 29-28 lead at halftime over Gulf Coast whensophomore forward Cedric Walker was fouled at the buzzer and nailedboth free throws.

The Wolves trailed most the second half, as much as six pointsuntil the 2:39 mark when sophomore guard Brandon Caston scored on alayup to tie the game at 57-all and sophomore guard Ledell Eackleshit a three-pointer to put the Wolves up briefly, 60-57 with 2:10left.

Gulf Coast freshman guard A.J. Magee fired in a three-pointer totie the game at 60-all at the 1:51 mark. Teammate Garland Stewart,a sophomore center, hit a jumper to give Gulf Coast a two-point,62-60 lead with 1:05 left in the game.

Following Walker in scoring for the Wolves was Eackles with 16points. Holliday followed with 15 points, including three3-pointers, and three rebounds.

Gulf Coast got 16 points and five rebounds from sophomoreforward Jason Watson. Sophomore guard Courtenay Brown fired in 13points followed by Stewart with 10.

Co-Lin travels to Meridian Thursday for a doubleheader. Thewomen begin play at 4 p.m.
