Services for Mamye Shamburger Ward Johnston, of Wesson, are 11a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel withburial in Mission Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Wesson.
Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mrs. Johnston, 103, died June 22, 2008, at her residence. Shewas born in Hopewell located in Copiah County on March 28,1905, toJohn Shamburger and Hattie Barlow Shamburger.
She was a retired machine operator and line supervisor at StahlUrban, a salesperson and manager of Famous Shoe Store. She was amember of Mission Hill Baptist Church. She was a member of theEastern Star and past Worthy Matron. She was a lifelong pianist,and church accompanist for many years. She enjoyed sewing,crocheting and tatting.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, JamesHorner Ward and Frank Johnston; her daughter, Marie Gaston; herbrothers, Hugh Shamburger and Frank Shamburger; her sisters, MerleSandifer, Jessye Denman and Adelle Shamburger; and agreat-grandchild.
Survivors are her daughters, Carolyn W. Warren, of Wesson,Pauline W. Sistrunk, of Meridian, and Betty W. Peters, ofBrookhaven; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
