Congratulations to Alton Shaw, who was elected mayor of Wessonin a special election Tuesday. Shaw, who will be sworn in on August5, will fill the spot left by the resignation of Bill Tigner inMay.

The challenges that face small towns now, such as shrinking taxbases and dwindling populations, are numerous. Shaw said he islooking forward to those challenges that await him. He hopes tohave a positive impact on Wesson and sees a bright future for hishometown.
