Accident kills man at home

A Lincoln County man was killed Tuesday evening during anaccident at his home where he was pinned under a truck, said DeputyCoroner Robert Tyler.
Kevin Cooper, 38, died when a welding truck fell on him shortlyafter 7 p.m. at his home at 2122 Furr’s Mill Road, Tyler said. At7:20 p.m., Tyler said, Cooper’s wife went to check on him and foundhim under the truck.
“The jack broke, the truck rolled and stopped on topped of him,”Tyler said.
The Brookhaven Fire Department’s Jaws of Life were called tofree Cooper from under the one-ton Dodge welding truck. He was thentaken to King’s Daughters Medical Center, fire department officialssaid.
Cooper was pronounced dead at 8:15 p.m., Tyler said. BrookhavenFuneral Home is in charge of arrangements, which areincomplete.
Cooper was a contract welder for about two years with Pepper’sMachine and Welding. Owner Roger Pepper expressed condolences toCooper’s wife Julie, daughter Michaela and other familymembers.
“He was a good fellow and a good boy,” Pepper said ofCooper.
