Coleman named 2003 Junior Miss

Brittany Lane Coleman was named the 2003 Lincoln County JuniorMiss Saturday during the annual program at Brookhaven HighSchool.
Coleman is the daughter of Don and Teresa Coleman.
She attends Brookhaven High School where she is a member of theNational Honor Society and is a BHS competitive cheerleader, aswell as a member of the varsity tennis team. An active member ofthe First Baptist Church Youth Group, she is also a competitivedancer and a student teacher with Show Stoppers Studio ofDance.
Amanda Russell, a student at Enterprise Attendance Center, wasnamed first alternate.
BHS student Emily Oberschmidt, who also received the Best YourBest Self Award, was named second alternate and Ashley Hatcher, whoalso attends BHS, was third alternate.
This year’s group of 20 participants was the largest ever forthe program. Also, participants included representatives from allsix area high schools, officials said.
Coleman succeeds 2002 Junior Miss Katie Newman and will go on toHattiesburg to compete for the state title later this year. Newmanis the reigning state Junior Miss.
In other awards presented during the evening, Justin Russell, astudent at Loyd Star Attendance Center, was named Escort of theYear.
The Has Been Foundation Award was presented to BHS student BrettCallender.
The Spirit of Junior Miss Award went to Stanci Long, a studentat Bogue Chitto High School.
